I just finished my first work of 2020! #TEMPLANDO it's my Op.125, and was commissioned by #IsaacCasal and Festival #AlfredodeSaintMalo in Panama where it'll be premiered in June. The work is for #EnsembleBlast scored for #violin , #cello , #contrabass , and #piano . Here a little about its story... Templando describes imaginary events happening during the traditional ceremony of tempering the drums by the fire performed by the Candombe players of Uruguay before a performance. As the piece begins the drums are cold and their sound is hollow and dry. Soon a fire is lit and slowly the musicians surround the fire bringing their drums close to it and testing them by playing. While the “mate” is passed around, stories are exchanged and musicians improvise alone and together. The warm-up becomes more intense as the drummers invoke the spirits of their African ancestors through their playing. (The actual performance can’t begin without their presence). Near th
